Why do people date?

I've found that people who date (especially in highschool) are held down by it. They are sucked of energy %26amp; for what? To say they have a boyfriend/girlfriend? I think I have better things to do with my time, like focus on eductaion %26amp; less of the trivial social politics of school. Sure, I like guys in my school, but no matter how much I like them, I'm probably not going to date them because I have a passionate hate for dating in highschool, and for that matter, ever. I find it useless, I mean I really do. Why would I want to be dependent on someone else? That's my worst nightmare. But I also want to date but I always say no to people who ask me out because I hate it. Really, why do people date in highschool? They claim to hate drama, but yet they throw themselves head first into it. Does anyone agree with me on this?

So true. I'm 22 and i look back at all my friends going through that mess in high school. I had one girl in high school, and after we broke up I waited till after untill i got another one. Way too much going on to be wasting time on someone you won't be with in 2 years anyway. Plus you miss out on all the sluts if your locked down ;P
Reply:I agree. I have a boyfriend and im 17 and hes 19. If he were in the same grade as me and still in high school, I wouldnt want to date him, because yeah its alllll drama. But since hes not at my school, we are fine.

Reply:I agree. It's cool to have a boy girl social life in school but why not just date alot of different people and have fun without getting so melodramatic? Why all the heavy duty monogamy starting in junior high? Really dumb.

and i mean i have so many afterschool activities and HOMEWORK...that it would be so stressful to manage a relationship. Yeah, sure ive been asked out lots of times but i want to wait- the longer you wait the more meaningful a relationship will seem.
