Wedding Date?

My fiancé and I have been engaged for awhile, and we set the wedding date 6 months ago. One of my girl friend started to date one of our friends several months ago. They recently got engaged and they set their wedding date the weekend after mine. Is it just me or is it odd to set the wedding date the weekend after mine?

Wedding Date?
`Why is it that you brides make a big deal out of things like this? Just be glad she didn't pick the same date and get her invites out before yours.

Get over it.
Reply:I say cherish the specialness of it all!

Go have a SUPER CO-ED BACHLOR/BACHLORETTE PARTY at an all inclusive resort on a tropical island - BOTH WEDDINGS TOGETHER (your all friends anyway, right?)!!!!!

Why not! This is your wedding.. She isnt getting married the same day. Get over it. Enjoy this time. Don't stress over it!
Reply:it's not strange. the date that they pick may be significant to them. but if you want to attend and won't be back for your honeymoon then just let her know see if they may want to wait another week
Reply:I think it is odd it really irritates me the next thing you'll know she has the same dress, theme, colors, venue and you name it.
Reply:Well they can set it whenever they want, but remind her that you and your hubby to be probably will be on your honeymoon and unable to attend. What's their hurry by the way?
Reply:oh yes
Reply:It's not the same weekend as yours, so what's the problem, she is hardly stealing your lime-light.
Reply:It sounds like they are so in love they want to get married as soon as possible but not steal your thunder. It was a sweet thought but they should have gone a month after you to give you time to have a honeymoon and get home. Maybe you could talk to them about it. If they are reasonable people it shouldn't be a problem.
Reply:It might just be an accident....... Seriously two different people in my wedding party already told me that I was the first to set my date and then each one of them has an additional friend trying to get that date! So they both have two weekends! Luckily, my cousin best friend had to pick the week earlier so she doesn't have a problem.. Sometime it's just due to the fact when the church is available and when the cater is available. The first date I picked was booked so we had to go with the Nov3 instead of the 10th and then what's the chance of two more people wanting the 3rd?? It's just pot luck sometimes. I won't take it personally!
Reply:It's rude - they shouldn't have done that; it's too close to your wedding date. But I've heard this done many times before so it doesn't surprise me. Make sure your wedding is so awesome that nothing they can do will top it.
Reply:Ok, you get a DAY, not a week, lol. You can't call dibs on the week, nor the month. Just the day. No worries at all, she needed a day, she didn't take yours, you're good to go! :)
Reply:it's kind of strange for their date to be so close to yours, but keep in mind that the date they set may be very significant to them. for example, maybe it's the 6 month/anniversary of their first kiss or something corny to you, but meaningful to them.
