Today is my due date.. no baby?

ok so today is my due date and still no baby!! i have a doctor appt today.. and they told me last week if he wasnt here by my due date we would set up a date to be induced.. how long do they schedule it for.. i mean do they schedule for a few days.. for weeks or what.. i have a friend who was induced like 3 or 4 days after due date.. and my ideal day to be induced is friday.. because my mom comes saturday to help me out at home with the baby.. and my boyfriends parents live a couple hours away so the weekend is the best time his dad can get off of work to come see the baby.. so im just curious when they usually book the date.

Today is my due date.. no baby?
Try eating some hot wings, I went into labor 12 hours after I ate them. I know it's an old wives tale but it couldn't hurt. Good Luck!
Reply:they will set the date up today for in a couple of days. so friday seems ideal. if not. then moday for sure. its not good for the bay to be in there too long.
Reply:i was induced 2 weeks after my due dates with my last 2 kids
Reply:Have you started dilating yet? That will tell you a good bit about the time for delivery. Nothing bad is going to happen if you don't have the baby on the due date. The doctor may have missed the onset date of your pregnancy. Babies know when the time is right to be born. Relax! There won't be much time for that after the baby comes.
Reply:Do you know what is involved with induction? For the majority of women, induction is not fun because it is not natural. You may end up in labour for days, you may have a fast unnatural labour that causes more damage than a normal labour.

Your due date is an estimate only of when your baby will come, it does not guarantee when it is ready.

Unless you are 10-14 days overdue, please do not rush things.
Reply:They won't let you go past 2 weeks over your due date. They will probably schedule it for 10 days and hope the baby comes on its own beforehand.
Reply:I would not worry too much, I had one 10 days early, one 5 days late, one 9 days late and one started on the 4th day late just as they were about to induce.

Your baby will know when it is ready. Its cosy in there and safe. Get your sleep while you have the chance, you will need your energy later. Congratulations by the way.
Reply:i really think that it all depends on your doctor and their schedule and a little on what you ideally want. i was induced jan 31st, and i was 5 days late. i really wanted the baby here but now that he is i am so happy that he stayed in there as long as possible, it seems to be that he is having an easier time catching on to things than our friends babies who were early. but that is just what i THINK i do not know for sure that that is the reason, but the doctors say it has a lot to do with it! good luck and congrats!
Reply:You can ask them to schedule it for Friday.

My friend had to wait 2 weeks before her dr. would schedule her induction. But when she went in for that last appointment ( 1wk 5 days after due date), they scheduled it the next day.

So.. idk. it depends on your dr. and your pregnancy.
Reply:It's usually up to your Dr and when they can get you scheduled for as to when they will do it. When I was induced, I went in on a Mon to "talk" about it(was 41wks) and I was in there at 5am Tues. the next morning to start the procedure. They will usually do an ultrasound to check for enough fluid around the baby and monitor the baby's heartrate and response to stimuli.(You just sit in a chair and they strap the baby monitor on you) Based on that your Dr will decide how fast it needs to be done. Sometimes, if everything looks good your Dr might be willing to wait longer. In my personal experience though(I have 5 babies) the one I was induced on hurt 100% more and was unbearable. I literally ripped my own arms to shreds trying to get a handle on the pain. With induced labor you don't have your body's own natural flow, it's a forced flow that just keeps coming on you and it's harder and just really not fun. My naturally went into labor births were MUCH easier and the babies did alot better so if you don't have to be induced don't. I know it's hard especially when you are going over your estimated date of Delivery, but those dates can be off up to two weeks so it's possible that your baby isn't even fully ready for another week or two.
Reply:My friend was also induced a week after her due date. I thinkit ijust depends. Good luck though an congratulations!!
Reply:I don't really like induction at all. It makes contractions come faster, closer together, and makes them more intense. The baby will come when the baby comes, they can be pretty stubborn.
